I am Saskia Van Elst, also known as SVE artworks and I have been passionate about visual arts for many years. My artistic journey began with evening classes at HABK, where I studied life drawing. I then dedicated four years to sculpting. Although I temporarily interrupted this training due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my passion for art continues to grow.
To further refine my techniques and knowledge, I regularly participate in workshops. This allows me to stay up to date with new materials and working methods, continuously enriching my creative process.
I draw my inspiration mainly from nature and the animals around me. Horses are my greatest passion, and capturing their strength and elegance in sculpture gives me a deep sense of fulfillment. Additionally, I am greatly fascinated by the human body. The mysterious shapes and expressions of the human figure inspire me to sculpt.
I primarily work with acrylic resin and apply a patina layer to give my sculptures a unique appearance. However, I also enjoy experimenting with various materials such as bronze, plaster, old iron, and glass, giving each piece its own character.
With my art, I aim to capture emotions and create a tangible connection between the viewer and the subject. Each sculpture tells a story, whether it depicts a dynamic animal or a human figure.
